Defining 365 Days- A Series of New Beginnings

In the beginning… John 1:1

What is a beginning? In today’s gospel reading, a “beginning” means a “starting point.” I love that! A moment in time when I can start start again! God creates moments and we can enter those moments if we choose. The world says that tomorrow is another day, but God says we have the next moment.

Every year we enter into a New Year filled with angst about what we should be doing in order to usher in a new beginning. It is that BIG thing weighing on us. We revert to secularism- lose weight, start that new business, buy a house. But what if this year we journeyed together? Join me in my New Year’s Resolution which in turn can become your New Year’s Resolution- Pray More. This year, it is my New Year’s Resolution to bring you 365 Days of New Beginnings. That each new day would be a “starting point” for all of us, a chance to begin again. And instead of the pressure of a beginning, we will instead embark on 365 days of new beginnings. I am praying that in this way God will open up our hearts to the things that he has in store for us, to break open wide our dreams and deepest desires, to be who God created us to be. And there will be no pressure because we will journey at His pace and not ours. And you can hold my feet to the fire since I made a promise that there would be something new for you to read and meditate on everyday.

What is sparking your interest in  the New Year? Send me your dreams, thoughts and suggestions at melissazpresser@gmail.com and we will address them together. Looking forward to journeying with all of you and to start our series of new beginnings.

Yes, begin again each day of the year invites us to come back to our prayer life no matter how long or how far we get away from it. God is with us and will remain with us. Teach us how to praise and thank you and bless you every minute of our lives. Amen.
