Day 89- Will you change after this mile?

A Meditation

Good morning everyone,

The Holy Spirit moved me this morning to write and record this writing as a meditation for all of you. Enjoy and God bless you!

As for me, I know that my vindicator lives, and that he will at last stand forth upon the dust. This will happen when my skin has been stripped off, and from my flesh I will see God.

Job 19:25-26

What does God have to allow in order for you to see Him? How far will you take it? The loss of a job, a friend or even facing your own mortality? Can we be faithful to God even unto death? Do we really believe in the resurrection?

These are all difficult questions to answer as our faith is on proud display. Your life at this very moment is like an art show, what is your canvas displaying?

Sit with yourself. Force yourself into silence. The pandemic in its natural state is in front of you, full of sickness and death. See the virus as a contaminant. An invader. An intruder. A disrupter. Now whether you are sick or do not feel that contaminant, that illness of soul. It is upending your life. It is causing you chaos.

You may have tears. Let them flow. You may have anger. Go ahead and scream. Your heart might be too overwhelmed to process all of this. Let it hurt. This is the gift of redemptive suffering.

Now see that virus, that contaminant not as a curse or as a judgment from God but as a gift. Shift your mind, adjust. Stay there until you accept it as one. Place the virus in a brightly colored box, with the wrapping paper and ribbon color of your choosing. Contain it. Hold it in your hands. Do not let it go. Be afraid no longer, it is contained.

Now review all of the things that consume your busy life. Your job, your extracurricular activities, your ministries, your friends. Review it all. If it takes up space or time in your life make sure you address it. One by one, sit with each and ask yourself this question.

Is this producing fruit?

Is this thing that takes up space in my life beneficial to others?

Does this thing make me a better or worse person?

Does this thing draw me closer to God?

Now sit with each question and think of your own as you feel guided. Let God speak to you in this place. Is this thing producing joy and peace or pain and sorrow? Is it what you were meant to be doing? Is your soul satisfied?

Sit here as long as you need to, still holding that gift box. Do not let the gift box go until you have finished this exercise.

When you have finished, unwrap the box, look inside. The box is filled with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a glow of light. You smile as you see bright colors and feel the warmth of the sun. You have made decisions. You will not return the same person when you reenter the world. You will be different.

Before you leave this space, resolve to put these decisions into place. Make phone calls, write an email. Whatever you have to do to commit to what you’ve discovered during this spiritual exercise. Tomorrow, we will fill our space with what’s to come.

This meditation was very heartfelt . Given the current issues we are facing in what has become our new norm, I was able to truly relax and really reflect on the things we take for granted and how important it is to keep God first in your life. Melissa, please continue the journey that God has for you. It is his plan to inspire others through you.
